The Ground Breaking Ceremony for the new St. Brigid’s Community Residence took place on Friday, 20th December.  The ceremony took place on the Bowling Green outside the former Shrublands Bowling Club.

Representatives from the Passionists, St. Brigid’s Primary School, St. Brigid’s Parish, Local Government Officials and Building Contractors attended the Ground Breaking.

Mrs. Glade Belle and Mrs. Connie Cook, long time St. Brigid’s Parish members and friends of the Passionists were guests at the Ground Breaking Ceremony.

Father Denis Travers, C.P., Passionist Provincial, turns the first soil on the new Passionist Building Site – the former Shrublands Bowling Green behind Shrublands Hall.

Christine Smith, Province Administration Officer, attended to the planning and details of the Ground Breaking Ceremony and the light meal to follow in Shrublands Hall.  Thanks Christine!

Fr. Tom McDonough, Leader of the St. Brigid’s Community, turns the soil on behalf of the Passionists who will live in the new residence.

Father Bernard Kenny, C.P., is a member of the Presentation Community at Marrickville and was professed a Passionist in 1941.  He did us proud by turning the soil too !!
