Mother General of The Passionist Sisters Visits Us
This week was an important one for the Passionist Sisters with the
arrival on Sunday 3rd of August (2003) of Mother General, Mother Antonella CP, from Rome.
This is Mother's first visit to Adelaide, although she had
visited the Sisters in the Sydney houses on two previous occasions. She was accompanied by one of her General
Consultors, Sister Elizabeth CP, who hails from the Colombian Province of the Sisters. On Tuesday Mother
General and Sister Elizabeth visited Archbishop Wilson. On Tuesday evening they accompanied Sisters Joan Mary CP and Jasmine CP to dinner
with the Monastery Community. Fr Austin Kenny CP from the Pt.Augusta Community was visiting Adelaide also attended. Fr Kevin, in presenting
Mother Antonella with a uniquely Australian gift, spoke of the importance of the coming to Adelaide of the Sisters and their part in
the expression of the Passionist charism here in South Australia.
Frs. Peter and Mark led some community singing after the meal and of course there were
some special renditions of I am Australian and Waltzing Matilda, so that our special
visitors would have a taste of Aussie inculturation!!!
